Iowa Hawkeyes (4-3, 2-1) vs Northwestern Wildcats (6-2, 2-2)
Saturday, October 27th, 9:00am kickoff PST
TV: ESPN2
Come on down to Buckley’s in Queen Anne this Saturday morning to watch the Hawkeyes head to Evanston to take on the Northwestern Nerds, whoops I mean Wildcats. Iowa and Northwestern have split their last four meetings at Ryan Field, dating back to 2001. Additionally, three of the last four overall meetings have been decided by seven points or less, with the fourth being decided by 10 points.
The Hawkeyes are looking to shake off a rough loss last weekend, there’s not a lot to write about the in the positive right now so I’ll let Coach Ferentz fill you in. Check this link out for his complete press conference this week: http://thegazette.com/2012/10/23/the-walk-off-weve-got-five-days-video-coming/.
Northwestern is building a very successful season as they are already bowl eligible, even after a crushing end of the game loss last weekend to Nebraska. They are once again led by an array of explosive players as they have scored over 21 points in all of their games this season. Keep an eye on running back Venric Mark as he leads the country in punt returns (25.1); ranks fifth in all-purpose yardage (183.8) and 18th in rushing (114.4). Mark needs 90 yards rushing to reach the 1,000-yard plateau this season.
For those of you needing a little ray of hope for Saturday morning here’s a fun fact: Saturday will be Iowa's third game away home playing on natural grass. Iowa is 2-0 this season when playing on natural grass. So you’re telling me there’s a chance!
Hope to see you Saturdy morning and Go Hawks!

Game Watch #7: PSU Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0) vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (4-2, 2-0)
Penn State Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0) vs Iowa Hawkeyes (4-2, 2-0)
Saturday, October 20th, 5:00pm kickoff PST
TV: Big Ten Network
Come on down to Buckley’s on Queen Anne this Saturday night and join the WWIC in watching the Hawkeyes play host to the Nittany Lions of Penn State. It’s the first night game (and possibly only) of the season and they will be striping Kinnick Stadium once again with fans in alternating black and gold attire. Saturday night marks the 25th meeting between Iowa and Penn State; the...
series is even, 12-12. Iowa has won three of the last four and eight of the last 10 meetings against Penn State. PSU enters Saturday's game on a four-game winning streak after losing its first two, while Iowa has won its last two games. Both teams are 2-0 against Big Ten competition.
The Hawkeyes defense continues to put up impressive numbers led by lineback Anthony Hitchens who is having a sneaky great year. Hitchens has posted double-digit tackles the last 5 games and currently leads the nation, yes the nation, in tackles per game with 13. He has The Hawkeyes rank 14th in the country in turnover margin (+7), 19th in total defense (317.2), 21st in scoring defense (17.2), 28th in pass defense (199.8), 30th in pass efficiency defense (114.8), 31st in rushing defense (117.3), 34th in passes intercepted (7), 52nd in turnovers gained (11), and 53rd in tackles for loss (5.8).
Penn State is coming off a bye week after staging a 22-point 4th quarter in a comeback win against Northwestern two weeks ago. Their team seems to be rallying together in the wake of all of the stuff they’ve gone through in the offseason and PSU QB Matt McGloin has been putting up some impressive numbers. McGloin, who leads the Big Ten in passing yards per game (249.8), TD passes (12, tied with Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez) and is second in completions (136) and yards (1,499).
Finally, in career milestone news, Kirk Ferentz claimed his 100th victory as Iowa's head coach with last week's thrilling 19-16 double-overtime triumph at Michigan State. Ferentz is the 12th Big Ten coach with 100 victories. His overall record stands at 112-89 in 17 years as a head coach.
Fingers crossed the Hawks keep it rolling! Hope to see you Saturday night and Go Hawks!

Bring on Sparty! This Saturday the Hawkeyes travel East Lansing, MI to take on the Spartans of Michigan State in a Big Ten Legends Division showdown. The weather forecast is calling for rain in Seattle, so come on down to Buckley’s on QA and watch what should be a great game. Saturday will mark Iowa's first game against Michigan State in East Lansing since 2009, which provided the thrilling “7 got
6” ending where Ricky Stanzi found Marvin McNutt for a game-winning TD on 4th down to give the Hawks the victory. Here’s the video to relive the moment for yourself:http://youtu.be/ 7p9xT-7-UkU.
Iowa holds a 22-19-2 advantage in the series and the Hawkeyes have won two of the last three meetings, four of the last six and nine of the last 14, with four of the five losses coming at East Lansing. The home team has also won 11 of the last 13 games.
The Hawks are looking to continue what was a solid performance two weekends ago against Minnesota led by RB Mark Weisman, a dominating offensive line, and a team defensive effort that continues to perform way above expectations. One crazy stat that really shows how great the O-Line has been playing is after allowing six sacks in the season opener, Iowa's offensive line has not surrendered a single sack the last four games.
MSU is coming off a surprisingly close win at Indiana last weekend where they squeaked out a 31-27 victory. This is a pretty similar Spartan team that we’re used to seeing. They have an offense led by the very talented running back Le’Veon Bell, and a stout defense which returns 8 starters from last year. They sure do like that halftime break, MSU has outscored its opponents 74-23 in the second halves of games, including a 45-13 advantage in the fourth quarter. One final random fact to leave you with is Iowa defensive coordinator Coach Phil Parker played at Michigan State, earning first team all-Big Ten honors from 1983-85. Parker was a graduate assistant coach when Michigan State won the 1987 league title and defeated Southern Cal (20-18) in the 1988 Rose Bowl. Hope to see you Saturday! Go Hawks!
