Iowa Hawkeyes (4-3, 2-1) vs Northwestern Wildcats (6-2, 2-2)
Saturday, October 27th, 9:00am kickoff PST
TV: ESPN2
Come on down to Buckley’s in Queen Anne this Saturday morning to watch the Hawkeyes head to Evanston to take on the Northwestern Nerds, whoops I mean Wildcats. Iowa and Northwestern have split their last four meetings at Ryan Field, dating back to 2001. Additionally, three of the last four overall meetings have been decided by seven points or less, with the fourth being decided by 10 points.
The Hawkeyes are looking to shake off a rough loss last weekend, there’s not a lot to write about the in the positive right now so I’ll let Coach Ferentz fill you in. Check this link out for his complete press conference this week: http://thegazette.com/2012/10/23/the-walk-off-weve-got-five-days-video-coming/.
Northwestern is building a very successful season as they are already bowl eligible, even after a crushing end of the game loss last weekend to Nebraska. They are once again led by an array of explosive players as they have scored over 21 points in all of their games this season. Keep an eye on running back Venric Mark as he leads the country in punt returns (25.1); ranks fifth in all-purpose yardage (183.8) and 18th in rushing (114.4). Mark needs 90 yards rushing to reach the 1,000-yard plateau this season.
For those of you needing a little ray of hope for Saturday morning here’s a fun fact: Saturday will be Iowa's third game away home playing on natural grass. Iowa is 2-0 this season when playing on natural grass. So you’re telling me there’s a chance!
Hope to see you Saturdy morning and Go Hawks!
