Game Watch Week #9: Iowa Hawkeyes (4-4, 2-2) vs. Indiana Hoosiers (3-5, 1-3)

Iowa Hawkeyes (4-2, 2-2) vs Indiana Hoosiers (3-5, 1-3)
Saturday, November 3rd, 12:30 p.m. kickoff PST
TV: BTN

It’s hard to believe but there are only four more games left in the regular season! So come on down to Buckley’s in Queen Anne this Saturday afternoon and join the WWIC in watching the Hawkeyes venture to Bloomington to take on the Indiana Hoosiers. Iowa has won the last 4 meetings versus the Hoosiers and they hold a 42-27-4 advantage in the series that began with an Iowa victory in 1912. Recently
in the series the winning team has scored 30 or more points in nine of the last 11 games.

I hope you’re sitting down for this; Iowa and Indiana still have a chance to make it to the Big Ten Championship game! Iowa sits behind Nebraska, Michigan, and Northwestern in the rankings and still have games coming up against the Wolverines and Cornhuskers. They do need some help in from Northwestern by losing a couple of games. A victory for Indiana would put them only one league game behind Wisconsin in the standings with a visit from the Badgers coming up next week. (Note: Indiana & Wisky only have a shot because OSU & PSU are not allowed to participate this year in the championship game due to NCAA sanctions.)

The Hawkeyes are looking to shake off another rough loss. Once again there are not a lot of positives to write about the Hawks so here’s a link to Ferentz’s weekly press conference: http://thegazette.com/2012/10/30/the-walk-off-attrition-is-college-football/. And for those of you who are calling for Ferentz’s job check out this article:http://iowa.scout.com/2/1234396.html.

Indiana is coming off of a huge win against Illinois which snapped an 11 game Big Ten losing streak. They run a very up-tempo offense and like to put a lot of points up on the board. They rank second in the Big Ten in total offense with 443.4 yards per game.

And finally I’ll end with this crazy fact: the Hoosiers, who started as three-point home underdogs to the Hawkeyes, are now favored for the first time in Big Ten play since Northwestern 2007.

Hope to see you Saturday afternoon and Go Hawks!
